“SHOWing Love” – 1 John 3:16-18 – SERIES: Got Fruit!

Have you ever noticed that in Galatians 5 that the fruit of the Spirit is singular and not plural.  It is not the fruits of the Spirit are . . ., but the FRUIT of the Spirit is . . ..  Join us as we talk about how love is the fruit of the Spirit from which all the other character traits flow.  Sermon originally preached on February 15, 2015.

“Spotting the Fake” – 1 John 2:3-11 – SERIES: Light and Love

You ever wonder how the appraisers on The Antique Road Show are able to spot the fake.  Well . . . it is because they know the signs of authenticity.  If the signs are there, the article is genuine.  If the signs aren’t . . . you know the rest.  John says the same thing is true about the believer.  Genuine believers will exhibit marks of authenticity.  One of those marks will be sincere, sacrificial, and whole-hearted love.  Join us as we examine these few verses and see if this type of love marks our lives!   Sermon originally preached on March 17, 2013.

“A Person’s a Person No Matter How Big” – Isaiah 57:15 – SEREIS: CORE GOSPEL TRUTHS

“A person’s a person no matter how small!”  Well . . . that is true, but “A person is also a person no matter how BIG!”   When we talk about God, we immediately think about his transcendence, but we often forget to talk about the fact that he is immanent!  Yes . . . he is above and beyond us, but he also near to us and he wants to have a relationship with us.  Basically . . . God is a person!  Join us as we explore the love and justice of God and how he pursues us!    Sermon originally preached on June 10, 2012.

“Moonlight” – Matthew 5:13-16 – SERIES: MISSION

“This little light of mine!  I’m going to let it shine.”  Most of us have sung that song since we were tiny, because it has a great message!  As Christians we are the light of the world.  Actually, we are the moonlight.  We reflect the Son!  Join us as we discuss how we can be salt and light in our world, pointing people to God by our attitudes.  We will follow Jesus in Mark as he tries to lead his disciples away from worldly thinking and toward kingdom thinking.  Sermon originally preached on February 26, 2012.

“Pass the Salt” – 2 John 1-6

Salt is a compound of two very dangerous elements.  Sodium is very unstable and is found in nature only combined with other elements.  Chlorine is a poisonous gas that can kill you in large amounts.  BUT . . . both of them together combine to form something as common and safe as table salt.  John tells us at the beginning of 2 John that we need to walk in truth and walk in love.  One without the other is toxic.  But . . . when both combine together in an individual believer or church, they can be a powerful tool used  by the Lord  Join us as we look at both truth and love and try to figure out how we can make sure both are present in our lives!  Sermon originally preached on November 13, 2011.

“Plain as the Nose on Your Face” – 1 John 4:7-11

Is the love just another one another, or is it something else.  I venture to say that love is the sum total of all the other one another’s.  Love is the forest and all of the rest of them are the trees.  Join us as we define what biblical love is and learn the reasons why it is important enough to be called the “greatest of these.”  Sermon originally preached on March 13, 2011.
